Democratic leaders spoke to reporters about a report issued by the Congressional Budget Office which indicated that the estimated budget surplus was lower than previously reported. Among the issues they addressed were the security of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds, levels of federal spending, and the impact of the president’s tax cut. Following their remarks they answered questions from the reporters.
