Mahmood Mamdani talked about his book Saviors and Survivors: Darfur, Politics, and the War on Terror (Pantheon; March 17, 2009). Professor Mamdani talked about the complex roots of the conflict in Darfur and argued that while atrocities have been committed, what is happening there has been mischaracterized as genocide by the Save Darfur movement. He responded to questions from members of the audience.

Mahmood Mamdani is Herbert Lehman Professor of Government and a professor of anthropology at Columbia University. He is the author of Good Muslim, Bad Muslim and When Victims Become Killers.
