Senators Deb Stabenow (D-MI) and Pat Roberts (R-KS) talked about the farm bill they are working on together. The legislation advanced on June 7 past a cloture vote, and was expected to be debated in full the following week. The bill would replace the longtime program of subsidies to farmers with crop insurance and a program that would pay farmers if their income from crops falls below certain levels.
